Your daily role

As part of the Nortera Corporate Thermal Processes team and under the direction of the Thermal Processes Manager, you will organize and analyze the activities necessary for the development and validation of thermal processes for canned and frozen products in Nortera's North American plants.

 

THE ROLE:

  • Maintain documentation related to the sterilization schedules of each of the canning plants;
  • Maintain documentation related to blanching validations for each of the frozen food plants;
  • Analyze and interpret the data collected during the canning tests and/or the blanching validation of frozen products;
  • Participate in various multidisciplinary projects of continuous improvement of plant processes and/or process development and/or problem solving;
  • Take charge of thermal deviations submitted by plants (evaluate food safety, recommend release provisions, analyze causes and follow up monthly on action plans to be taken at the department level);
  • Organize and prioritize the lab testing of canned foods;
  • Organize and prioritize sterilization tests to validate production processes;
  • Organize and prioritize validation tests for production autoclaves;
  • Ensure the follow-up of the results through the different projects in progress;
  • Develop and revise departmental procedures and/or specific technical training;
  • Provide technical assistance to Nortera plants;
  • Maintain the database of tests performed.

Your profile

  • University education in Food Science and Technology, Food Engineering or equivalent;
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken;
  • Experience in the food industry, an asset;
  • Experience in quality assurance/R&D;
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel) and Google Apps;
  • Analytical skills and ability to synthesize information;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • The main place of work is at the St-Denis-sur-Richelieu plant. However, you will occasionally be called upon to work in other lants in Quebec, Ontario and the United States;
  • You must be able to travel to the United States (technical training and support to American plants).
